Dr. Laura Andrews received her PhD in 1987 in Pathology and Cell Biology from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Laura has worked in both academia as an Assistant  Professor at Rutgers in the Neurotoxicology Department and as a Lecturer at the University of Bristol, UK. Within Industry, she has worked at Regeneron as Manager of Toxicology, Genzyme/Sanofi as Vice President of Pharmacology and Toxicology and now is a Scientific Director at AbbVie. At AbbVie she is the Preclinical Safety Lead for Discovery on the East Coast (Worcester and Cambridge) working with the Discovery Immunology and Neuroscience portfolios. Laura is a Full Member of the American College of Toxicology where she has served on the finance committees (2018-present), is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology and has served on the Board Directors (2007-2011) and is a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences where she has also served on the Board of Directors (2012-2015).  She was an active member of the Leadership Committee of BioSafe for 10 years and as a member of SOT acted in leadership roles in the Women in Toxicology group, the Biotechnology Specialty Section and the Northeast Regional SOT. She has an active role in mentoring young professionals both within and outside of AbbVie.   Laura has been and continues to be a dedicated contributor to the drug development of biologics and small molecules for over 30 years through publications and presentations and participation in relevant consortia.
